He finally said it! “Will you marry me?” You could have saved him then, but you said yes! (Just kidding)

A wedding proposal can be one of the most stressful things a man can do for a woman. He knows he’s ready, he knows with whom he wants to spend the rest of his life with, he’s saved for this moment, he’s discussed it with family and friends; he plans it and then he changes the plan because the 1st plan wasn’t creative enough for him. You get the point … He has taken a lot of thought to get to that moment where the execution of the proposal will be ingrained in the memory of everyone involved! He finally does it …

And so it begins …

You’ve told your friends, you’ve posted pictures on social media, you’ve updated your status to engaged on Facebook, you’ve brought your 1st Wedding magazine …

Now the planning begins! I’m going to share just a few important details as you begin planning for your big day.

  • Pick a date & book your venue! Search for a perfect place to celebrate without breaking the bank and skimming on the guest count!
  • Get a support group (team) together! Your beasties and close relatives to help you navigate and support you over the next 6-12 months so you don’t over stress and burn out.
  • Register somewhere and if you have extra $$ in your budget, create a website. Create a wish list and share with your guest.
  • Book your vendors! From make up artist, entertainment, flowers and day of event planners, having a team in place in advance is crucial to the success of your big day!
  • Create a budget! This should’ve been on the top of this list, but then again this list has no particular order! Envision your wedding and decide how much you want to spend. Consider accepting contributions from parents on both sides of the family as well!
  • Invitations are crucial in planning and scheduling for your big day. Decide which invite you want to use that matches the theme of your wedding, including, response cards, thank you notes and stationary. If you send them out too early, your guest may forget. You can send out a “save the date” notice while you select your final invites.
  • Select your Bridal Party! Ask your loved ones to stand by you not only at the altar, but during the months leading up to your big day.
  • And finally, get yourself married! The planning and hard work will come and go; make sure you celebrate your dream wedding without the stress of what may sometimes come with it.
