What You Sow, You Reap

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. Galatians 6:7-8

The sowing and reaping principal is ordained of God!   What you plant, is what will grow, is what you will harvest.   Genesis 1 says “each according to its kind”!

Luke 6:44 “For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush.  A bad tree cannot bear good fruit!”

Sinful and fleshly ways cannot give birth to spiritual, righteous, and good things! Remember, good that comes out of evil is only because of God’s gracious and merciful intervention!  Sin never resolves sin.  Let us not test God!

If you sow discord in life, you will reap discord in life.  If you are habitually critical of others, if you are constantly judgmental of others, and you like to tell others “Like it is” and feel the need to expose their faults and inconsistencies, you will reap superficial, stormy, and fleeting friendships, as well as cold and distant relationships.

Consistently critical people demand and grope for respect from others around them but can never win their love!

Conversely, if you show mercy, seek to encourage others, forgive quickly, and seek to restore and redeem others, you will reap long lasting and loyal friendships as well as deep, loving, and caring relationships!

To receive mercy, grace, and redemption from God, and not extend that mercy and grace and heart of redemption to others, mis-appropriates that Grace which God has lavished upon us, cheating others of that very grace God intended to give others thru us, and thus robs God and profaned His name!

Jesus told His disciples, “But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

Jesus, help us to look at our own words, attitudes, and behaviors toward others.  Forgive us when we have expected mercy when we have not given mercy!  Holy Spirit, prompt us daily to “pay forward” the grace, forgiveness, and mercy You have given us!  In Jesus Name. Amen!
