Overcoming Your Fears
One of the most challenging undertakings one faces is starting something new or starting over. We tend to hesitate many times because the thought of failing, the thought of starting something new, the thought of rejection or the thought of letting others down does not allow us to move forward.
Fear is a natural healthy response that increases our senses in times of danger. It is a survival instinct that allows us to survive during times of crisis. I don’t want to talk about that kind of fear. I would like to share about the other type of fear, the one we experience during times of uncertainty or where we feel an uneasiness because we fear embarrassment or just not knowing what may come next. The wonderful thing about fear is that it is not permanent, the fear you may be experiencing will eventually pass. If you begin to act on those things you want to do or accomplish, fear will eventually take a back seat once you begin to confront it and act on it.
We will always experience a level of fear in our lives. Some more than others and it unfortunately, cannot be completely eliminated. But you can identify it, manage it and overcome it. Isaiah 43:1 “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you”.
The Psalmist in Psalm 34:4 wrote, “I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. We can’t eliminate it on our own sometimes, but we can call on God for deliverance in that area.
Whatever fear you are facing today, I encourage you to get a hold of it, take courage and proceed with moving forward, proceed and do the things you are afraid of doing, don’t put off what you know already needs to be done because if you don’t … if you don’t face it, act on it or move forward you will probably end up with regret one day. Someone once said, “I’d rather have an ocean of fear than a mountain of regret.”
Take the initiative, before you end up with a lot of “What if’s”! Remember fear cannot and is not greater than our Savior!
Psalm 27 1 The LORD is the stronghold of my life– of whom shall I be afraid? When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident.
