What Better Gift
When we think about Christmas and the Holiday Season we associate shopping with it. We associate Christmas Trees, Black Friday sales, egg nogs, exchange of gifts, food and more food. We get caught up in the current social custom that society has erroneously implied/applied and defined as the meaning of Christmas. We are pressured to give even when sometimes it may be financially stressful for us to do so. Christmas may even bring a level of stress and sadness to many who may be dealing with a plethora of issues no one else knows about. You can complain about all the stress of Christmas, or you can get on your knees and thank God for all He has given you! Your health, a roof over your head, food on your table, a warm bed … I want to encourage you to take this time, take this season and be grateful for what you have and what God has provided for you. With the same measure of blessing God has given you, I pray you can be a blessing to others that are less fortunate than you.
What better gift …
What better gift than to give a word of encouragement to a brother/sister or friend that is experiencing a season of drought in their life and need to hear a word from you. To hear that there is hope and an unfolding to the season they are in. That God will bring them from a place of mourning to a place of joy. 1st Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you!
What better gift than to be able to testify to someone in need, someone who feels lost without salvation, that is looking for an escape from what’s currently happening in their lives. That is desperately living their life looking for a way out, looking to fill a void in their hearts. That we can share the Good News of salvation that Jesus still saves, restores, and is the answer they are looking for!
What better gift than to be able to share with the sick that Jesus still heals, that He stills performs wonders and miracles. Isaiah 53:5 But He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him and by His wounds, we are healed.
What better gift than to lend a shoulder or an ear to someone on which they can share and release some of the burdens and troubles which give them no peace. No matter the situation, no matter the problem, no matter the dilemma where decisions and choices need to be made, where they can express themselves without the fear of being judged and viewed as less than!
What better gift than to be able to tell and remind a loved one that you love them and appreciate them. That you may take some time to share your heart and warmth with a loved one and remind them that everything is going to be alright!
The greatest gift we have all received was when God decided to send His Son to be made man so we can receive salvation. Let us remember when Christmas comes around, that if it wasn’t because of that wonderful gift, we would have no reason to celebrate the season! I encourage you to not take that gift for granted and that you may pass it onto others!
