Reviewing your 2018 marketing strategies and applying them in 2019
Reviewing your 2018 marketing strategies and applying them in 2019
- You should begin by mapping out how your company performed sales-wise throughout the year. Jot-down your total sales per month for the entire year. Calculate which were your busiest months. Determine what were the growing factors during that time. For example, did you hold an event or launch a product that created an increase in sales? Is it because in your industry, that is the peak of the season’. This exercise will give you a good idea of things you might want to be sure to repeat next year.
- Did you have any marketing initiatives you used this year? What worked? What didn’t? At DJ Who Events, one of our most important initiatives is referrals’ because without referrals, we would have to increase our marketing cost to drive consumers to consider our services.
- If you used a form of marketing that worked, then do it again in 2019. Maybe you launched a product or service that generated an increase of your income this year or added a website or new business cards that created new leads and a new source of qualified leads. Whatever strategies or techniques you used that had the biggest return should be incorporated again next year. Always ask, “How did you hear about us” and keep a record of the source of your leads.
- What was your biggest marketing failure this year? What did you learn from it? Marketing is never successful 100% of the time, however when you test things, you can learn to be more successful the next time. Think about your marketing failures and what was the biggest lesson that you learned this year so next year you can do it better.
- What are a few things you want to achieve with your marketing in 2019? Do you want to get better and more qualified leads? (I surely don’t want to waste time with dead end leads.) Increase your sales? Be able to charge more? Create a steady stream of clients that come to you? Determine what it is you want to achieve and that will help you define where you should focus your time, energy, money and resources.
- What marketing (already in place) would you most like to improve or change? Sometimes we have a marketing plan in place that needs a tune-up. Ex. Maybe an updated website, a newsletter, etc.
- Describe what your marketing will be able to do for you in the future. What marketing do you need to get in place or what do you need to do to create that?
And remember, if you’re not marketing, you’re leaving money at the table for someone else. Do it right and you won’t have to chase anyone to increase your business! Best wishes to a successful 2019 season! Yodq
