Leave Your Mark
1 Samuel 18:5-7 5 What ever mission Saul sent him on, David was so successful that Saul gave him a high rank in the army. This pleased all the troops and Saul’s officers as well. 6 When the men were returning home after David had killed the Philistine, the women came out from all the towns of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs and with timbrels and lyres. 7 As they danced, they sang: “Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands.”
Many people today live with the intent to leave a mark on this world. Whether it is in the form of art, music, literature or fame.
Cookie will be known for the impression she left on the show Jersey Shore.
Mozart left a mark via the music he created, though he only lived until the age of 35
Neil Armstrong has left his mark as being the 1st man on the moon.
Even Hitler left a mark (smudge)!
If you could be remembered for one thing what would it be or what would you want it to be? Will you after many years finally realize that you watched life happen or have no idea at all of what happened! What kind of mark will you leave on the lives of your children, neighbors, and fellow believers? I believe many of us desire to leave a mark on the lives of our fellow human beings and on this earth!
For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:1)
- God created you. You are not an accident.
- God has a plan for you. You have a purpose in life.
I encourage you not to downplay the value of who you are and what you do for the Kingdom of God!
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
What kind of mark are you leaving on the world? How have you made a difference in this world for God? Have you helped a friend or loved one heal from their wounds, have you recently blessed someone with words of encouragement, have you impressed the love of God in the life of someone else or are you leaving a smudge? Will you leave the world a better place because you were here? God is calling you to rise up to the occasion and meet the need, face the Goliath’s of poverty, hunger, depression, anger, loneliness, un-forgiveness … In trying to leave our mark and change the world for the good, the Lord will change us, mold us and shape us as we intentionally decide to take a stand in front of the battle lines, when everyone else say no, when everyone else runs away in fear and looks away, God is calling you to leave a mark on this earth. Christ is the best example we can derive from and imitate, so that the impression you leave will last a lifetime even when you are no longer around.
