Forgetting The Past
Blessings everyone, I’ve come to the conclusion that some people come into our lives for a reason and a season. Sometimes, it is difficult to let go of people because we’ve become comfortable in certain situations. Letting go means dealing with the hurt head on and accepting change no matter how hard it may be at the moment. Sometimes we need to forget people from our past because they do not fit our future. Know that the mistakes and failures of a failed relationship or friendship should make you stronger and wiser as you learn from it.
There are things inside of us that must be dealt with before we can move ahead. Every experience we’ve had until this present moment has helped shape and mold us and that even includes our mistakes. It is important that we forgive ourselves for what we did not know or for not knowing any better at the time. The things that have happened to you, good and bad, are key in determining how you’ll act and react for the rest of your life. Paul in Philippians writes; “forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead”. If the Apostle had not overcome his past he would not have the opportunity to write those letters we today read!
What am I saying to you today? Though we are not where we probably should be, I am working on doing this one thing, forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. The only power the past has over you is the one you give it. Forgive them, forgive yourself, cry and let the tears you shed water the seeds of your future.
I am a product of God’s forgiveness; so don’t judge me on my past. You are a product of God’s forgiveness, so don’t let anyone else judge you or remind you of your past. Those are probably some of the ones you have to let go of! Remember, no matter what we do or say sometimes, even when we’ve admitted our wrongs, some people will talk about us anyways! Keep it moving and know that the power of letting go and forgiveness gives you the power to take back control of your life. I pray this encourages you today!
