Being Built Up In Christ

Colossians 2:6-7 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
Last month, I shared about the importance of being rooted in Christ. That growth requires change because you can’t grow in a space where room for growth is not provided. That our obedience to God unlocks the promises of God. Just like Abraham, stepping out in faith leads to blessings. You need to stop disrespecting yourself and let go of the things that are holding you back. That your old mindset, your fears, or comfort zones will strangle your purpose. Most importantly, you should allow your life to reflect God’s glory so you can lead others to Him.

I would like to share this month about the importance of being built in Christ! Being built is defined as being formed, and being built up is described as being formed in several layers. The Apostle Paul is encouraging the church in Colossians about the importance of being rooted, which we already covered, and also being built up!

Being built up requires several facets or levels of growth. When one decides to go train for something, it requires several things: a decision, time, and a commitment to do it. It requires longevity! In other words, you have to commit to doing it, to remain rooted in that new process that you are in, and make sure you are intentional with your faith walk in Christ. The building-up process is a process of sanctification, to grow more and more like Jesus with the assistance of the Holy Spirit. To be built up requires on your part that you allow yourself time to get the results you desire in that season. As we walk out our faith, it is important to note that sometimes, it will take time to see the results we desire. There is a part of us that has to allow God to build us up as we go through the process of growth.  As we walk out our faith, our ability to do His will also grows. It will become easier because we grow in conviction, knowledge, and faith. One of the components of building up is what we refer to as the process of sanctification. Growing more and more like Jesus through the indwelling Holy Spirit. The result of being rooted and built up will result in a heart that is filled with thankfulness and appreciation for the process.Let your prayer and desire this month be, Lord, let your living water flow within me and through me for I believe in you, I am trusting in you for my built-up season, and I am counting on you to finish the work that you have begun in my life!

Remember, even Jesus spent a season being built up.

Luke 2:52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.
