Genesis 50:20-21 (NLT)
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. No, don’t be afraid. I will continue to take care of you and your children.” So he reassured them by speaking kindly to them.

Devotional Thought:
Few things sting more deeply than being forgotten by those you once helped. When you love, give, serve, or support someone from a sincere place—and they overlook it or walk away—it’s easy to feel discouraged or even bitter.

Joseph understood this pain. Sold into slavery by his own brothers, imprisoned unjustly, forgotten by the cupbearer after helping him—he had every reason to become hardened by betrayal. Yet Joseph remained faithful. And in due time, God brought him out of prison and into the palace.

Joseph didn’t just interpret Pharaoh’s dream—he offered wisdom and a plan. His gift made room for him, but it was his character that kept him in position. Thirteen long years of preparation shaped him into the man God could trust to carry out a nation-saving plan.

When Joseph faced the same brothers who betrayed him, he could’ve responded with vengeance. Instead, he responded with vision. He saw the big picture. What man meant for harm, God used for good.

This serves as a reminder that people will be people. People may forget you, but God doesn’t. Despite Joseph’s help, the cupbearer forgot. The bible goes on to say that two full years had passed. It may have seemed like Joseph had no hope in getting out, but what we need to understand is that delays are sometimes necessary divine setups for God to eventually get you ready for promotion. God’s plan includes timing you may not understand at the moment, but be assured today that the palace experience is coming.

The effects of when people forget your kindness. It can cut deep, especially when you operate from a space of genuineness, and people take advantage of that. People will hurt us and disappoint us. I’m pretty sure we’ve all been in a space where we felt like we were used, especially when we operated from a space of genuine kindness. When trouble comes, people will forget all the good and act like you never existed and like you never did good. Just remember, when people forget your kindness, God doesn’t.

Life Application:

 1. Remain faithfuleven when forgotten. God sees you.
 2. Develop your character.Your gift can open the door, but integrity will keep you in the room.
 3. Trust God’s timing.Delays are not denials. Every experience is shaping you.
 4. Forgive quickly.Don’t let bitterness steal your blessing. Speak kindly—even to those who didn’t do the same for you.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for never forgetting me. When others overlook my efforts or walk away, remind me that You see every act of kindness and every sacrifice made in love. Help me stay faithful, even in seasons of delay. Develop my character, refine my heart, and use every experience—good and bad—for Your glory. Teach me to forgive like Joseph did, and to trust that You’re working all things for my good. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Being Built Up In Christ https://djwhoevents.com/being-built-up-in-christ/ Thu, 05 Jun 2025 21:47:12 +0000 https://djwhoevents.com/?p=4781 Read More]]>
Colossians 2:6-7 6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
Last month, I shared about the importance of being rooted in Christ. That growth requires change because you can’t grow in a space where room for growth is not provided. That our obedience to God unlocks the promises of God. Just like Abraham, stepping out in faith leads to blessings. You need to stop disrespecting yourself and let go of the things that are holding you back. That your old mindset, your fears, or comfort zones will strangle your purpose. Most importantly, you should allow your life to reflect God’s glory so you can lead others to Him.

I would like to share this month about the importance of being built in Christ! Being built is defined as being formed, and being built up is described as being formed in several layers. The Apostle Paul is encouraging the church in Colossians about the importance of being rooted, which we already covered, and also being built up!

Being built up requires several facets or levels of growth. When one decides to go train for something, it requires several things: a decision, time, and a commitment to do it. It requires longevity! In other words, you have to commit to doing it, to remain rooted in that new process that you are in, and make sure you are intentional with your faith walk in Christ. The building-up process is a process of sanctification, to grow more and more like Jesus with the assistance of the Holy Spirit. To be built up requires on your part that you allow yourself time to get the results you desire in that season. As we walk out our faith, it is important to note that sometimes, it will take time to see the results we desire. There is a part of us that has to allow God to build us up as we go through the process of growth. As we walk out our faith, our ability to do His will also grows. It will become easier because we grow in conviction, knowledge, and faith. One of the components of building up is what we refer to as the process of sanctification. Growing more and more like Jesus through the indwelling Holy Spirit. The result of being rooted and built up will result in a heart that is filled with thankfulness and appreciation for the process.Let your prayer and desire this month be, Lord, let your living water flow within me and through me for I believe in you, I am trusting in you for my built-up season, and I am counting on you to finish the work that you have begun in my life!

Remember, even Jesus spent a season being built up.

Luke 2:52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.

Being rooted in Christ https://djwhoevents.com/being-rooted-in-christ/ Tue, 13 May 2025 19:29:51 +0000 https://djwhoevents.com/?p=4776 Read More]]> I would like to share with you this month about the importance of being rooted! Being rooted is defined as being firmly established, which can refer to several things. To feel connected, belonging to a place, community, or oneself.

 • Feeling stability and security, whether in the workplace or a family structure, or a community.
 • Feeling grounded in one’s values and beliefs

Our beliefs and opinions are rooted in the credence attached to our faith walk. What that means is that our faith is rooted in Jesus Christ or at least should be rooted in Him. The Apostle Paul points out four different characteristics regarding walking out our faith in Colossians 2:6-7. Being rooted, being built up, being established, and being abounding in Him! Allow me to illustrate the importance of being rooted.

When we place a plant in a pot, it needs room to grow and expand as the roots expand.

A small pot can hinder a rooted plant’s growth by restricting root expansion, limiting nutrient and water intake, and potentially leading to root-bound conditions. Root-bound conditions occur when a plant’s roots become tightly packed and unable to grow further within their container, often causing stunted growth, nutrient deficiencies, and other issues. Here is an example of why a small pot can be problematic.

It Restricts Root Growth:

Roots need space to grow and explore, and a small pot confines them, leading to tangled or circular root systems, which can restrict further growth.

For the plant to continue to grow, it is necessary to remove it from its constricted environment and place it in a much larger pot or environment so it can grow to its full potential. It is the same with our walk in Christ; there comes a time when we must uproot ourselves from where we are so God can take us where He wants us to be, a place where we can flourish and grow in a deeply rooted relationship with him.

God told Abram in Genesis 12 to leave his country, his family, and his father’s house to a land that he had not seen. There was a promise behind his obedience. There is a promise behind our obedience to Him! Abram had roots in Haram and at the age of 75 was called to uproot himself and his family and go to a land he had not seen, where God was going to make a great nation out of his lineage. God had to take him out of his comfort zone to fulfill his prophetic destiny. God was going to replant him in a better space where growth would be exponential. It would require faith & trust to leave a place where he was comfortable to go somewhere he had not even seen.

That is how God operates, he will send you the word to move in faith, though you do not know how, though you do not see how, though you may not understand it, nevertheless step out in faith with a level of trust in Him. When we trust, it produces stability in our thought process, it provides emotional security, and a deeper level of intimacy with God. You are disrespecting yourself when you know you’ve been called to do greater things and remain stuck in your old ways of thinking. It’s time to change the pot! I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and begin to believe in bigger and better in all facets of your life.

Dealing with Doubt https://djwhoevents.com/dealing-with-doubt/ Thu, 03 Apr 2025 21:10:40 +0000 https://djwhoevents.com/?p=4770 Read More]]> Blessings everyone!
I would like to speak to you briefly about dealing with doubt. Doubt affects us all believers at one point or another! God desires that we live a life of victory, and it is by faith in Him that God’s mighty power is released into our lives as believers to be able to operate in Faith and not doubt. Faith to believe even in times of uncertainty and doubt. Our faith has to be sufficient to trust and obey God in every area and situation in our lives. The moment you recognize that you need to turn to Him in your times of doubt, you will begin to rid yourself of doubt. When Thomas doubted, Jesus revealed himself to him in such a way that every doubt vanished. We tend to overthink, which can lead to a paralyzing fear of failure and a lack of trust in others, ourselves, and God.

I encourage you this month to doubt your doubts and starve it with God’s word.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

My prayer for you today is that any form of fear or doubt you are facing, that is trying to invade and disrupt your walk, be bound up in Jesus’ name! We come against all doubt and that all your prayers, questions and needs be met. We bind the fear that comes with doubt, the fear of failure, the fear of rejection, the fear of oppression, and depression be broken in the name of Jesus! Know that you are favored and blessed by God that and all shall be well concerning you!

Being misunderstood! https://djwhoevents.com/being-misunderstood/ Thu, 06 Feb 2025 18:32:23 +0000 https://djwhoevents.com/?p=4762 Read More]]> Blessings everyone,
Hoping you have all had a productive start of the new year! We are officially in February which means we only have 6 more weeks of cold weather to go! Spring will be here before you know it!

I recently came across a devotional that spoke volumes to me and thought it timely and appropriate to share it with you this month. I take no credit for this except that it came across my desk and I felt strongly to share it. It was on time and relevant to my current season. I pray it speaks life into you!

Being misunderstood is defined as failing to interpret or understand (something or someone) correctly. I am pretty sure we have all been misunderstood and have also misunderstood things that have been said to us. You are not alone, and it does not mean that something is wrong with you. Please take a moment to read this devotional and allow it to minister to your heart.

Devotional

Let’s be real—being misunderstood isn’t just frustrating; it’s discouraging. You know your heart, your motives, and the sacrifices you’ve made, but somehow, the people around you still don’t get it. If that’s not enough to frustrate anyone, I don’t know what is.

Here’s what I need you to hear: being misunderstood is inevitable. Even the Apostle Paul, who gave everything for others, had to defend his motives to people he had already helped because of his past as a religious murderer. And if Jesus—who lived a perfect life and made perfect decisions—was misunderstood, it’s unrealistic to think we’ll escape it.

So, what do we do when people question our motives or fail to see the value we bring? We manage ourselves.

The first truth to remember is that you can’t expect others to respect sacrifices they didn’t see. People often see the results of your hard work but not the effort it took to get there. They don’t know about the late nights, the early mornings, or the tears you’ve cried—and that’s okay. It’s not their job to know. Letting go of the need for recognition frees you to keep moving forward.

Second, you can only ensure your motives are pure. You can’t control how others interpret your actions. Sometimes, their assumptions say more about their past experiences than about you. Your responsibility isn’t to convince everyone—it’s to ensure your heart remains right.

Finally, being misunderstood doesn’t diminish your value. Don’t let someone else’s inability to see your worth make you question it. Sometimes, it’s not your value that’s the issue—it’s their vision. Stay focused on the people who need what you have to offer, and don’t stop giving just because someone else doesn’t get it.

Here’s the bottom line: If you’re doing something meaningful, you’re going to be misunderstood. But that doesn’t mean you stop. Too many people are depending on you to add the value only you can bring.

Let these truths ground you the next time you feel frustrated or discouraged because someone misunderstood you. Your worth isn’t tied to others’ opinions, and your calling isn’t dependent on their understanding.

Keep adding value. Keep showing up. And trust that God sees it all.

Rooting for you,

Pastor Dharius Daniels

New Beginnings https://djwhoevents.com/new-beginnings/ Wed, 15 Jan 2025 22:12:46 +0000 https://djwhoevents.com/?p=4754 Read More]]> It’s probably been close to a year since my last post and a lot has happened since. I took time to concentrate my efforts as an Associate Pastor at my local church. I’m entering a new season in my life in which I am extremely excited about and wish to share it with you. I will be resuming the monthly newsletter to serve as an encouragement to you without it becoming burdensome. That’s why I’ll just send it out once a month. I will also post events from our area that would edify and encourage the body of Christ. If you have any events in the future, you would like me to share, feel free to forward it to me.

Devotional

I’ve recently come to the conclusion that some people come into our lives for a reason and a season. Sometimes, it’s difficult to let go because we’ve become comfortable in certain situations. There are things inside of us that must be dealt with before we can move ahead. Every experience we’ve had until this present moment has helped shape who we are, and that even includes our mistakes. The things that have happened to you, good and bad, are key in determining how you’ll act and react for the rest of your life. Paul in Philippians writes “forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead”. If the Apostle had not overcome his past, he would not have had the opportunity to write those letters we today read!

What am I saying today? Though we are not where we probably should be, we should be working on doing this one thing, forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. The only power the past has over you is the one you give it.

You are a product of God’s forgiveness, so don’t judge yourself regarding your past. And don’t let anyone else judge you or remind you of your past. Those are the ones you must let go! Remember, no matter what we do or say sometimes, even when we’ve admitted our wrongs, some people will talk anyways!

Reflection: What are some of the things or people you are holding onto that you need to release and put in God’s hands?

I hope & pray this encourages you today!

Who Do You See? https://djwhoevents.com/who-do-you-see/ Wed, 21 Jun 2023 17:02:16 +0000 https://djwhoevents.com/?p=4537 Read More]]> The mirror has seen you cry! I know that all of us at any given moment or time have spent some time of reflection in front of the mirrors of our home. Maybe in your room, probably in your bathroom. We’ve all done it! I know that on several occasions I’ve personally had to shed tears of sadness alone in a locked bathroom in front of the mirror. The mirror has seen our sadness. The mirror knows when we are feeling beautiful and when we are feeling not so beautiful. The mirror has seen when you have paused to look and reflect on the happenings of life, when you have looked at yourself and asked yourself so many times so many questions about the direction and decisions of your life. The mirror has seen when you’ve asked yourself, “What are you doing with your life?” The mirror has seen you ask yourself, “what did I just do?” The mirror has seen you ask yourself, “who am I?” The mirror has seen you ask yourself, “what have I become?”

Every time we look in the mirror is because we want to make sure that we look good, that we look presentable, some of us concern ourselves with what people think of us and how we look. Some of us, not so much. But I think it’s safe to say we all want to feel good, look good even if inside we are empty, feeling downcast, feeling defeated and crushed.

Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

Two things worth mentioning, The Lord is close!!! You may not see it, you may not feel it, but He is close. To be close means that He is only a short distance away, in very close proximity. Know that though you may be in a season of darkness, God is within your reach. He is close enough to come rescue you when you cry out to Him. He’s saying to you I am with you in your dark season, I am with you in your crushed pressing season. I am with you!!!

Understand that growth takes place in darkness. When you plant a seed, you place it under ground because if you leave it exposed to the outside elements, it will wither and die. It is not yet ready to grow and come out. Seeds are placed under the ground where it is safe from the elements of the outside world. It is sometimes necessary to be placed in a season of darkness because it is there that the initial growth will take place. It is there where preparation takes place, it I there where the foundation is laid so you’ll be well rooted for when your breakout season arrives. Know and understand that though you may be in a dark season, though you may be in a season where you feel alone, though you may be in a season where you question yourself, though you may be in a season where you are saying to yourself “who do I see”, know that in that process, in the same manner that we water the seed for growth, God is watering us with his love, God is watering us and preparing us for sustenance, God is watering us in preparation for the break out season he has in store for us. But before you and I can come out we have to come to a place where we can say, what I currently am experiencing right now is not my final destination. What I see is not what God sees!

If anyone is coming for you, it is ultimately going to be God. He is going to make a way where there is no way. I encourage you today to see yourself not how others see you, not how you may currently see yourself, but how God sees you in your time of darkness!

But God https://djwhoevents.com/but-god/ Thu, 02 Mar 2023 17:11:58 +0000 https://djwhoevents.com/?p=4526 Read More]]> Life comes with good seasons and not so good seasons. Sometimes those bad seasons can really wear us down. There comes a time and a place in our lives when we must recognize that we can no longer do life on our own strength. When we’ve reached a point in the timeline of where we currently are when we say to ourselves, this is not going to work, this is not working out! I need a but God moment in my life. Why is it that if I now have access to the blessings God has in store for me with my name on it, why am I going through these trying times. Why does it seem that these trials are never ending? We must remember that our trying times are opportunities for God to manifest his glory in and thru us so that we can come to a place of surrender in our lives.

If the bible tells me according to Ephesians 3:20 that “Our God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think”, what that should translate in our minds is that my way of doing things is probably not going to bring the best results. And if the word tells me that God is able to do exceedingly more than what you & I can, then we should allow God to take control of whatever is troubling us, whatever issues we are currently facing, whatever setbacks, whatever is torturing our minds whatever is hurting us, whatever it is, God is going to do more than you and I could do on our own, more than what you and I can ask for, more than what you and I can think of! More than what anyone else can do for you! More than what your husband or wife can do for you. He can & will always do more.

Understand that God’s unlimited and overabundance of mercy is available to us because He chose to lavish it on us.

Some of us today need to begin to decree and declare our but God moment for our lives. I want us to leave here today with a renewed sense of hope and as you navigate thru the challenges that arise at home, at work, at school, wherever you are, when you become challenged, you can begin to speak the promises of God and begin to say, things are out of my control now, but God; there seems to be no way out of this situation I am currently in, but God I know you’re going to make a way where there is no way. I got weapons that were formed against me, but God. I just received a bad health report, but God! I feel like my world is falling apart, but God! It is time we begin to walk with the authority and favor God has placed over our lives for this now season. We must begin to tap into all the spiritual blessings that God has already released and made available to us thru Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 1:3 NIV 3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

So, if the word states that He has blessed us, then we must begin to tap into those spiritual resources God has available for us! My prayer and hope for you today is that you can begin to tap into what God has for you in this season!

Stay Committed https://djwhoevents.com/stay-committed/ Wed, 02 Nov 2022 14:23:34 +0000 https://djwhoevents.com/?p=4515 Read More]]> I would like to share this month a bit about being committed to God. Being committed to anyone or anything (church, project, marriage, job) requires sacrifices many times. When it comes to being committed to God, commitment means putting God first. Loving God more than anything or anyone else. Serving God wholeheartedly even when life, people and situations discourage us! God doesn’t come with a trial version, we’re either going to trust Him and persevere or we’re going to fail and disappoint ourselves and God. Someone once said we are full of desire to work but short of commitment. My hope is that we can remain committed to God even when those around us don’t. Commitment to God is key in our own personal walk and growth. It requires a prayer life, the study of His word, a worship lifestyle as well as checking our behavior at home and when go out. Our commitment to God should be reflected in our lifestyle and in our service to others. It means not quitting when life gets tough. It means doing the right thing regardless of the people that tell you not to. To be committed is to be strong in the face of adversity and not giving in to the pressures of life. I encourage you today to evaluate where you are in life right now and ask yourself whether you must make some adjustments and recommit some time to God.

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

Stop Complaining https://djwhoevents.com/stop-complaining/ Wed, 02 Nov 2022 13:59:05 +0000 https://djwhoevents.com/?p=4511 Read More]]> I would like to speak to you today about something we all do probably every day. Some of us more than others. Nevertheless, we all are guilty of it. And that is complaining.

Complaining is when you express your frustrations, dissatisfaction, and annoyance with something without the ability to do something about it, or without the willingness to change how you think about it, to find a solution, or to accept the situation for what it is.

Complaining many times arises out of frustrations we face when challenged with circumstances and situations that are out of our control. It also arises when our expectations are not met, in family structures, in our work environment and even in our social circles.

Zig Ziglar once said, “the more you complain about your problems, the more problems you will have to complain about.”

Pointing out that something is wrong or unfair is one thing, but to constantly complain about it without finding solutions is another. When we bring our awareness to what we dislike in our life or environment, we give ourselves the chance to reflect and find a way to make a change. However, when all we do is complain without any forward positive movement, we are really just whining.

The kids don’t do what you asked them to do, we complain. Your husband didn’t clean the house with you, we complain. Your wife burnt dinner again, we complain. You’re stuck in traffic, we complain. The kids didn’t take out the trash, we complain! The driver in front of you is too slow, we complain. Your coworker screwed up again, we complain. Your husband went on Facebook and sent two cake emojis and one heart emoji to his ex, we complain. It’s so hard sometimes not to complain. Lol

The constant grumbling, whining, and finding fault with or in everything, can create a negative impact on yourself, your loved ones, and others. No one likes to hang around someone who constantly whines and moans. It may seem harmless to vent your frustrations, but if vocalizing your negative sentiments becomes a continual habit, and all you do is complain, it can result in some pretty harmful consequences.

Someone once said, “You cannot change the people around you, but you can change the people that you choose to be around.” –Unknown

It turns out that constant complaining will not only turn off others, but it can create chaos in other ways, too. Although it’s quite obvious that complaining can bring down your mood and the happiness of others around you, it can also have a large impact on how you function on a daily basis, and if you’re not cautious, it will take a toll on your body as well.

At the end of the day, sometimes it feels good to get your grievances off your chest, but if you’re going to express your negative sentiments, make sure you’re doing it in a productive way and with the right people.

Complaining isn’t all bad. Occasional venting and expression of negative emotions to someone you trust about difficult situations allow us to get our concerns out into the open, and in doing so, can reduce our stress reactions. Holding onto our feelings of frustration will create unhealthy results and may stop us from identifying our problem and getting to the bottom of it. And it can also result in us exploding in anger and taking it out on others. I encourage you today to take a look at the other side of your situation for a moment, this way you can realize how blessed you really are as well. Have a great Holiday Season everyone! Thank you for your continued support!
